Comparing two xml files within eclipse currently operates in text only mode. This is better than nothing but it would be great if oxygen syntax colouring and outlining worked within compare view.

It would be particularly good for the outline pane to display only the different sections - as is the case for java compare.

Hello,

Thank you for your request. A future version of the Eclipse plugin will add an implementation of the XML diff algorithms available in oXygen standalone. With this implementation the compare view will use the syntax highlight available in the oXygen editors.

Sorin

Is this functionality available on in plugin v 12.2? The coloring in Eclipse diff does not happen. Also would be nice to have oXygen XML diff for Compare With → Each Other.

Hello,

The XML Diff is not present in the Eclipse plugin edition of Oxygen. Eclipse has a built-in diff tool.

You can see the difference in features between the Eclipse and standalone editions of Oxygen in the <oXygen/> XML Feature Matrix.
A grey bullet means that the feature is missing from the Eclipse plugin.

Notable features missing from the Eclipse plugin are the XML Diff, the SVN Client and the XML specialized Find/Replace.

regards,
Adrian
