When formatting XML elements the formatting depends on the element. Either all whitespace (space, tab, newline) or all whitespace is ignored.

It would be good to have a third option to keep newlines in the document and ignore spaces and tabs. In this way, when editing a docbook document, the whitespace that I use for clarity is preserved.

Hi Erik,

Check the indent selection action from the contextual menu (you can set a shortcut for it in Options). This performs only line indenting, it will not change the number of lines.
