Smart copy and paste in tables

Hi,
I would greatly appreciate if you could implement the following smart copy&paste features when dealing with CALS tables [NB: referring to my previous post about CALS tables (see topic10612.html) ]

1. reset the namest, namend or colname attribute when you copy a range of cells from one table to another table to ensure that the geometry of the table is valid after the paste action

2. reject (or at least warn) when you paste in a table a row that does not have the correct number of cells (for example, copying a row from a table with 3 columns to a table that contains 2 columns or vice-versa).

Kind regards,
Pascale

Hi Pascale,

We already have this issue registered based on your previous post and you will be notified when it gets implemented.
We plan to release Oxygen 16.1 in a couple of days but hopefully we'll be able to work on your requests for Oxygen 17.0 which will be released next year.

In my opinion you also have enough Java API to implement this behavior specifically for your document type configuration.

Usually such improvements are implemented as Java extensions and they work out-of-the-box for the XML vocabularies for which Oxygen provides in-house support like DITA and Docbook. But even if we will not be able to implement such an extension to work for any XML vocabulary, the extension we will implement will be helpful as a starting point for you.

Radu

Hi Pascale,

Just to update this thread, in Oxygen 19.1 (which we released a couple of days ago) when copying table content referring column names which no longer exist in the paste destination, those attributes will be removed on paste.

Radu
