SVG text editor issues

Hi,

When I click on a SVG graphic that I've imported in Oxygen, text editor does not pops up for me. Instead, the SVG graphic opens up with a graphic designing software ( i.e. Corel Draw). Do I need to change anything in the settings in Oxygen?

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm guessing you double click on it in Author mode. When you do this, by default Oxygen opens the SVG file with the system application associated with SVG files (Corel Draw in your case).

You have can manually open the SVG file with File > Open if you want to edit it within Oxygen. Or you can switch to text mode (Document > Edit Mode > Text), locate the SVG reference and either Ctrl+click on it or press Ctrl+Enter (contextual menu > Open > Open File at Caret).

Adrian

Hi,

I tried both ways and it did not work. Ctrl+click on the SVG reference opens up the graphic in Corel Draw and when I pressed Ctrl+Enter (contextual menu > Open > Open file at Caret), I get the warning message: "Cannot open the specified file".

I want to edit the XML file of the SVG graphic but the text editor for the graphic does not open.

Thanks,
Sarmin

Hi,

What does the image href look like? Is it absolute or relative?
Does it point to a remote location or a local file system location?

If all else fails, there's always the good old File > Open, browse and manually pick the SVG file.

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

The image href is relative. It is conkeyref-ed, but I tried to open from both places (cokeyref-ed and from the actual place where it is directly href-ed)and both attempts failed.

File > Open, browsing and manually picking the SVG file won't let me read the XML codes of the graphic.

Thanks,
Sarmin

Hi,

I'm still not sure if your SVG files are local or located on a CMS or some other type of repository.

I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "XML codes". You mean you can't determine the location and name of the SVG file so that you can manually open it?
Or that after opening it there are some things missing from it and/or errors being reported?

If File > Open is not an option, I guess you could associate Oxygen to be the default application to open SVG files in your operating system settings (instead of Corel Draw). But I see this as a last resort.

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

I would like to send you a screenshot of what I meant but I don't see any option of attaching an image in here. May I have an e-mail address where I can send it? You would get a clearer picture of the issue.

Thanks,
Sarmin
