Adding a custom Style to Author without duplicate DITA framework?

I've built a team-specific Hints Style, modeled after the oXygen default one. I've activated it for myself by following the instructions here: https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... css-styles

However, I ran into a permissions issue right away when I tried to edit oXygen's DITA framework. I received an error message that I lacked write permissions and asked if I wanted to extend and customize instead. So I did and that worked for developing/testing purposes.

But now I'm ready to share with my team, and I suspect there must be a simpler way to do this than for everyone to import and use a custom framework just to access a single custom style, especially as the documentation seems to assume that users can edit the default DITA framework to add a custom style.

Is there a simpler way? Or is it really recommended that we use a custom framework for even this relatively simple thing?

Hi Miriam,

So one option is definitely a custom framework customization, you can extend the DITA framework and add a new CSS, this blog post should give you all details about it:

Another option is to add your custom CSS to be used for any document type association using an XML catalog with a default mapping, this is explained in the section Add a Custom Default CSS for Every XML Document:
