Opening large files

Does anyone know the limits of Oxygen with large files?

I have tried to open a 10 Mb XML file and Eclipse blocks forever.

Any hint to edit such large files?
It would be desirable to be able to edit them, even if some feature would be disabled in those cases.

My system has 1 Gbyte of RAM, and I assign to Eclipse a maximum heap size of 256 Mb. I think it should be enough.

Hi David,

I can open without problems a 13.5 Mb file in oXygen standalone with 256 Mb set as maximum heap size and also on Eclipse with the same 256 Mb of heap. It is true that while the standalone takes a few seconds to open the document on Eclipse it takes about 30 seconds.

Also on Eclipse there are a lot of plugins and oXygen will not get all the 256 Mb you set for Eclipse. You may try your file on the standalone version and see if you can open it there. If that works then you should consider giving it some more time on Eclipse and/or increasing the memory for Eclipse.

Best Regards,
George
