JAI - where's the documentation?

Several months ago I installed Oxygen and got everything running to compile a mamouth document I've been working on. It was something of a trial and error process - something I've been wanting to provide some feedback on. So from the start, this I'll say it's possible that I've missed something, or these details have already been taken care of. But just in case...

I was very surprised to find that I could not compile a pdf document with embedded images without installing the Java Advanced Image kit. This wasn't a terribly big deal, but I don't recall seeing anything on the web site or in the Oxygen literature that made this fact plain. It seems like including images within a document would be so common place - why not include it bundled within the Oxygen download and install it automatically? Why put us through all the pain of figuring this out?

Thanks for listening.
