Hi there

Having some strange issues with Bidi Hebrew (also Arabic) text in the Author mode (Vista, XML Author 10.3, build 2009090215 - but also on XML Editor 9.3, build 2008070211 in the edit mode).

Text initially displays correctly, but layout changes instantly as soon as the input cursor is moved into the text. It also displays differently again as text is selected. Even if text isn't displayed RTL it's important it doesn't appear to 'jump about' as the selection changes.

Is this normal?

This is prior to selecting any text. It's isn't running RTL though the stylesheet specifies dir='rtl' in the output. Opening in the external browser displays it correctly.

No, it is not normal. We will try to fix the problem of displaying and selecting RTL (right to left) text in Author mode.

Hi,

We'll try to make some improvements in time for Oxygen 11 (couple of weeks).
When navigating with the caret (and without selection) the text will not change layout anymore and if the text "selection foreground color" (configurable from the Oxygen preferences) will be the same as the normal "text foreground" color (which in most cases means setting it to black) the selection should not cause it to change layout either.

Oxygen 15.1 added full support for bidirectional editing in the visual Author mode.
