Right-click/Open starts another instance

On Win2K if I have Oxygen running and then go to Explorer and right click "Open with Oxygen" it launches another instance of Oxygen instead of opening the file within my running instance.

Is this Microsoft's way of saying they don't like Java programs... :)

OS: Win2K
Oxygen: 1.2.4

We will fix this in the next version. But no, is not a Microsoft problem; we can make it work in pure Java...

I still have problems with double-clicking on a file in the Windows Explorer and getting an extra instance of Oxygen.

My version is oXygen 9.1, build 2007122116 (Professional)

Is there a solution?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Harry Postma.

Hello,

Did you set the Oxygen startup parameter -Dcom.oxygenxml.MultipleInstances=true? If this parameter is set Oxygen does not check at startup if there is another instance already running.

Do you have a firewall or antivirus application that blocks applications that try to open a local port on the computer? The second instance of Oxygen should detect that the first one is running by connecting to a local port opened by the first one. Please make sure that an antivirus application or other type of application does not restrict local port opening for Oxygen.
