I'm probably missing something basic

I opened the sample.xpr in DocBook 9.1 and navigated to Docbook -> V5 -> sample.xml

I then tried applying the Docbook transformation and I get the following error

C:\Program Files\Oxygen XML Editor 9\samples\docbook\v5\sample.xml_xslt (Access Denied).

Any suggestions?

I think you installed oXygen as an Administrator user on your computer but you run oXygen as a standard user who does not have write permission for the Program Files folder where the samples project is stored. In the next version of oXygen the samples project will be stored in other folder where the user who runs oXygen always has write permission.

You should move the samples project in a folder where you have write permission and try again the transformation. After you move the project you have to load it in oXygen by opening the file samples.xpr from the new location with the action Open Project from the toolbar of the Project view or the Project menu.
