Hi
I have a clear understand that when an image is referred inside a topic, and that topic is referred inside a map, the image is indirect for the map.
But say we have a bookmap, it has a image referred in its title in the image tag & and image referred as a chapter also.
As per my understanding, since the image in the title is a referred asset (image, multimedia) it should be indirect, and the chapter image should be direct.
But on the contrary since both are directly in the map they both can be direct references also.
What can be a correct understanding of direct and indirect reference as per dita ?
Same for image in a keydef in a map .

I would usually use the direct/indirect wording when discussing about references using @href and @conref versus references using keys (@keyref and @conkeyref).
But sometimes as you mentioned, if I have a resource which refers to another resource not directly but through reference to other resources, I would also use direct/indirect in this context also.
