Variables and reusable content: is it possible "placeholder" in oXygen?

There was such an interesting question about working with reusable content: I know how to work with it in general.

But if, for example, I need a special variable, which in microsoft word (as far as I know) is called "placeholder": you insert it into a document and write documents for different countries.

And this variable (for example) means units of measurement. For a specific country, the document is displayed with the substitution of its own (accepted in this country) units of measurement - millimeters, inches, feet, etc. into this variable.

Is it possible to use something similar in oXygen?

Thank you!

Hi Dan,

Variables are a basic feature of DITA. They can be indeed conditionalized with profiling conditions as you are asking. You should be able to search for "DITA variables" and find many resources and examples. For example,

Hi,

Also link to a small topic in the Oxygen User's Manual about defining keys in a DITA Map:
