maximize editing area

Hello,

I am using Oxygen 22 on Ubuntu 16.04. I would like to maximize the editing area, i.e., remove all unneeded toolbars and status bars. I was able to remove most unneeded bars, but there are a couple of unneeded elements that remain. I would like to ask whether these can be removed too. They are the following:

1) Above the editing window, there is a bar that shows the XPath (without slashes) to the element where the cursor is current placed, e.g., "html body ul li".

2) To the left of the column with the line numbers, there is a column that allows to mark certain lines with numbers. I do not understand what the purpose is of this column (where can I find an explanation of this feature?), and I think that I don't need it, so I would like to remove it.

3) Below the editing window, there is a bar allowing to switch between Text, Grid, and Author modes. Since I never use Grid or Author modes, I do not need this bar and would like to remove it.

Can these elements of the interface be removed? I saw that, under "Window", there is a command called "Maximize Editing Area", but this command does not affect these elements.

Thank you in advance for your help!
Wolfhart

Dear Wolfhart,

If you are using Oxygen version 22.1, in the "Window" there should be three checkbox menu items:

Code: Select all

Maximize editor area
Hide all toolbars
Hide editor tabs
The "Maximize editor area" hides side views. The "Hide all toolbars" hides all toolbars and the "Hide editor tabs" hides the tabs allowing you to navigate between files.
I'm afraid we do not have a setting to also hide the Text/Grid/Author modes.
If you want to remove individual toolbars, you can right click the toolbars area then use "Configure toolbars" and you have settings there to hide individual toolbars.

We do not yet have a setting to hide the breadcrumb (that horizontal bar above the XML text showing the path int he XML).

You can hide the line numbering but you cannot hide the vertical stripes used to create bookmarks or to fold elements.

I will add internal issues with your use case, maybe we can do something about some of the limitations in a future version.

Regards,
Radu
