Error When Copying/Pasting Link Into a Comment

My team is on Oxygen 17.1. Until a week or two ago, we were able to copy and paste URLs into a comment tag. Now if we try to do it in Author mode, we get the following error: "Could not insert document fragment. Cause: Premature end of file." However, if we first paste the link into something like Notepad and then copy/paste from Notepad into the comment, it works. It also works if we copy/paste the URL in Text mode. I'm not sure if it's related to a Microsoft update or what. Has anyone else received this error and have a fix for it?

Hi,

This might also be caused by a web browser update. From what web browser (name and version) are you copying the URLs?
Does the paste work in other places in your content (if you paste inside a paragraph text content for example)?
Do you have any custom plugins/frameworks installed in Oxygen which may interfere with the paste functionality?

Radu

I think you're right about it being a web browser issue. We were copying the links from Chrome. I noticed that I can paste the URL into a paragraph, and it automatically pastes inside an href tag. I tested with Internet Explorer, and I can copy/paste the URL into a comment tag just fine. It looks like it's pasting as plain text, though, whenever I paste into a paragraph tag. I'm guessing a Chrome update turned URLs into hypertext whenever they're copied/pasted instead of plain text.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Using Oxygen 17.1 with the latest Chrome on Windows 10 I cannot reproduce your original problem.
Maybe if in the Oxygen Preferences->"Editor / Edit modes / Author / Schema aware" page you uncheck the "Convert external content on paste" checkbox Oxygen would interpret the clipboard as plan text and this would bypass your problem.

I did as you suggested, and that solved it! Thanks again!
