I am trying to type ఓమ్ అస్మత్ గురుభ్యో నమః. It is displaying స్మ as స్ మ and భ్యో as భో య్

I need to address it urgently so that I can purchase the software start working with it.

Hi,

Are you editing the XML content in the "Text" editing mode or in the "Author" visual editing mode?
In the Oxygen Preferences->Fonts you can set the used font for both the "Text" and the "Author" editing modes. You can cycle through the fonts detecting by Oxygen from the system and see if you find one with a better display for those characters.
Unfortunately we have very little control over how the fonts in the system render the content. What fonts did you install in the system? If they are open source and we can try them on our side we could try to look more into this...

Radu

Thanks for your reply.

I am using GAUTAMI FONT.

I wonder the way oxygen works. I tried visual studio editor and 'xml copy editor' for 'tei'. both are rendering the text fine.

Hi,

I'm testing with Windows 10 which no longer comes pre-installed with Gautami so I googled and downloaded a Gautami font, then copied it to my Fonts folder.
Then I restarted Oxygen, set that font in the "Preferences->Appearance / Fonts" page as the font to be used for the Editor and pasted your characters in an opened XML document.
Here's how it looks like on my side:

files/gautamiFont.png

Is it better than what you get on your side?

Radu

Hello Sony,

Could you please answer each of the following questions?

1. What operating system are you using (name and version, please)?
2. What version number does your oXygen installation have?
3. Do you use the stand-alone oXygen application or the Eclipse plug-in?
4. Where do you notice the rendering problems in oXygen, in the Text page (with the XML tags) or the Author page (with the Office-style rendering)?

As another suggestion, you could try to download and use some other fonts that are able to render Telugu characters (found this on the Internet: http://fonts.siliconandhra.org/).

Hello again,

Unfortunately my colleague Radu is on vacation and I cannot ask him how he managed to render the text correctly on his computer in the stand-alone oXygen...

However, I also tried our oXygen XML Editor as an Eclipse plug-in, with the Gautami font that I've downloaded, and the text seemed to be rendered as you want, both in the Text and in the Author pages, with slight differences. If you are interested in this, you can also download Eclipse (https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/) and then unzip the content from http://archives.oxygenxml.com/Oxygen/Ed ... 022209.zip into Eclipse's "dropins" folder. After restarting Eclipse, you can try opening your sample and check if it's rendered as you wish.

Good news! May I ask what font you used? It might also be helpful for other people as well. :)
