Hello,

due to various soft- and hardware problems on two different Computers during the last weeks, I wonder if java can be the Problem, there was an update before the trouble started.

I need Java only for Oxygen, it is blocked in every browser.

Therefore my question: the latest version of 17.1 Comes with Java Version 8 Update 60 (Build 1.8.0_60-b27).
What would you recommend about updating java, stay with the installed one or update it?

On what platform are you using Oxygen (Windows, Linux, Mac)?

Oxygen is a Java desktop application that comes with its own private Java runtime. It does not expose its bundled Java runtime to any other applications. So, other applications (including web browsers) do not see or use the Java runtime that comes with Oxygen.
To answer your Java questions:

- Is it going to be updated?

No, it's not going to be updated, nor should it be necessary to update it in normal circumstances.

- Would you recommend to update it?

No. Leave it as it is. Each version of Oxygen is tested thoroughly with the version of Java that it bundles. We only recommend updating it when a serious functionality issue is found with the old version of the Java runtime.

You don't need a system installed Java for Oxygen. Oxygen bundles its own private Java runtime that does not affect the system. You can safely uninstall any system installed Java, if you don't need it for anything else.
