Webhelp Responsive interface not localized

Hi,

a while ago I tested the localization of the WebHelp Classic interface and it worked fine.
This was explained very well here: https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... elp-1.html

The explanation for localizing the WebHelp Responsive interface seems to be exactly the same as for the WebHelp Classic:
https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... bhelp.html

Yet, it doesn't work. The interface is always in English. Maybe it's a bug or the manual text for the WebHelp Responsive must differ in some part.

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this issue.

You have to run the DITA-OT Integrator after the step 3 described in the How to Localize the Interface of WebHelp Output procedure. To run the DITA-OT Integrator, you can use the predefined transformation scenario called Run DITA OT Integrator.

This step is missing, we will update the documentation to include it.

Right, I remember this from the last time I wanted to add a new language. Using DITA-OT Integrator worked last time, but not this time :|

The log says it was succesful:

Code: Select all

integrate:
[jar] Warning: messages.xml modified in the future.
[jar] Warning: plugins.xml modified in the future.
[jar] Building jar: T:\bla\framework-oxy18\DITA-OT\lib\dost-configuration.jar

BUILD SUCCESSFUL
Total time: 0 seconds

The process finished with exit code: 0
As a test, I've added a language that is new to WebHelp Classic and WebHelp Responsive, ran the DITA OT Integrator, then created output. The new language is used in the Classic output but not in the Responsive output. Could I have made a mistake while applying the DITA OT Integrator?

Another WebHelp thing I could only get to work with the Classic and not with the Repsonsive output: The five-star rating system does not work in the Responsive search.

Yes, Webhelp Responsive 18.0 has some issues related to the Localization support, some labels like 'Home', 'Print this page' or 'Search' are not translated. These issues were already resolved and the next oXygen maintenance kit will fix them.

Is this your use case or you have another issue?

Yes, the rating system is available only for Webhelp Classic. I will register this feature request for the Webhelp Responsive output.

Ah nice, waiting for the maintenance version then. It's like you said. The "Print this page" string was the one I always checked.

Also thanks for registering the rating system request.

I just installed the 18.0.1 to check the localization.

We are using a customized framework, so I tried to diff our framework with the 18.0.1 framework. I copied all changes I found in the DITA-OT\plugins\com.oxygenxml.webhelp folder to our customized webhelp folder.

This is not enough, it seems. The output "Print this page" is still not localized in our WebHelp Responsive output.

Are there more files in the framework that have been touched in order to repair this issue?

Nevermind, it works! Don't know what I overlooked, but now the output is as intended. "Diese Seite drucken", sweet.

Yes, Webhelp Responsive 18.0 has some issues related to the Localization support, some labels like 'Home', 'Print this page' or 'Search' are not translated.

This is still the case for Oxygen Webhelp Responsive in version 20.1 . Only five languages are provided for in the com.oxygenxml.webhelp.responsive\oxygen-webhelp\resources\localization

strings-de-de.xml
strings-en-us.xml
strings-fr-ca.xml
strings-fr-fr.xml
strings-ja-jp.xml[/list]

Is there a resource where we can get more of these translated labels?

Hi,

You can localize the interface of the WebHelp Responsive output also by adding a new language. You can find the procedure to add a new language to localize WebHelp Responsive output version 20.1 in our user manual:
Localize the Interface of WebHelp Responsive Output -Add a new language
