Oxygen XML Forum

Hi everybody,

I am totally new in working with xml-files so I am facing the first problem/question. I want to edit a xml-file just like a "excel table" but I am not sure whether it is possible ?!
I have to export xml-files from a real estate software, edit some data (copy / paste) and import it again into the real estate software. For me it would be the easiest way to edit the file in columns, as I would do it in excel.
Is there a esay way to do it with the Oxygen XML Editor ?

I also replied to you through our support email, but I am also posting the reply on this topic, to clarify this also for the other users which might be looking for this functionality.

Please note that the predefined support in oXygen is only for importing Excel documents, unfortunately, there is no support also for exporting XML documents into Excel format.
As a side note, the only versions which can be imported through out-of-the-box support are the ones prior to Excel 2007.
For 2007 and later versions, at import time, oXygen will ask for additional libraries required.

However, I just wanted to let you know that there is a "Grid" editing mode for XML documents in oXygen, which allows structured tabular editing of XML files.
More details about this mode are available on our website, at:

This way, you could just import your Excel documents into oXygen and edit the resulted XML in the Grid mode.
Going further, as both oXygen and Excel can handle XML documents, after performing the XML editing and saving the changes in oXygen, you could then just open the XML document back in Excel.

However, the best way to see if oXygen XML suits your needs, is to test it out by yourself, using an oXygen XML trial license.
