XML file showing as unsaved upon opening

For one of our users, upon opening an XML file in a tabbed window it immediately shows file as being unsaved with the asterisk symbol as shown below. This is despite the file has just been opened. This behaviour is inconsistent with other users.

Hello,
Please check if your user has enabled the option to format and indent a file when it is opened.
For this, go to Options > Preferences > Editor / Format options page. In the Format and Indent section is an option named Format and indent the document on open - check its state.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
We are checking with the user if this is the issue but on the surface it appears like this may be the issue. I'll post a follow up once we get a confirmation.
