Problem installing on FC4

I'm trying to install oxygen on FC4, but I get an error from the oxygen.bin installer. The message says:

No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH
environment variable. You must install a VM prior to
running this program.

I do have a java vm installed and in my path. Typing "java -version" at the command prompt gives:

java version "1.4.2"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.0.0 20050519 (Red Hat 4.0.0-8)

Clearly it's not the official sun version but presumably it should be compatible? Is there any way I can get the installer to skip this check so I can at least get oxygen on my machine and see what happens...?

Hi,

Use the all platforms distribution, that is basically an archive you need to unpack.

Thanks George. That's got me a bit further. I now get a java exception when I execute oxygen.sh though... I guess I'm going to have to download the official sun version of Java after all... :-(

Please post all the exception. <oXygen/> should work also with Java virtual machines not produced by Sun Microsystems.

Best regards,
Sorin

OK. I'm at work at the moment so I can't re-create the exception, but I'll post it once I can get back to my machine.

Hello,

Never mind, just use a Java virtual machine from Sun. <oXygen/> doesn't work with the GNU virtual machine.

Sorin
