Spanish spell check in oXygen 10

Post by Wolfhart »

Hello,

I am using oXygen 10.3. I need to spell check xml data in Spanish. The page http://www.oxygenxml.com/spell_checking.html says that oXygen comes with the Hunspell Spell Checker with a Spanish dictionary built in, but I cannot find that option, so I assume this only holds for later versions. So the alternative, if I understand correctly, is to add a Spanish dictionary in the .dar format to the dicts folder. The problem is that I cannot find a Spanish dictionary in that format. The method described in http://www.oxygenxml.com/forum/viewtopi ... 209&p=7357 -- i.e., to get the dictionary from XMLmind -- does not seem to be available any more. Does anyone know where to find a Spanish .dar file, or some other way to equip oXygen 10.3 with Spanish spell checking capability?

Thank you in advance for your help,
Wolfhart

Hello,

The Hunspell spell checker was introduced in v11.2 of Oxygen.
v10.3 is using the Java spell checker developed by XMLmind, however that product has been discontinued and is no longer supported.

There are a few other applications around the web that use the same spell checker, so you may be able to find dictionaries from them:
http://documentation.vizrt.com/ece-serv ... aries.html

Alternatively you could convert a Spanish dictionary from another format to the required .dar format. I see that the dictionary builder is still available here:
Dictionary Builder

Note that you can still purchase an upgrade to the latest version of Oxygen (currently v15.0) and use one of the widely available Hunspell dictionaries.

Hello Adrian,

Thank you for your response. Thanks to your explanations I was able to find a Spanish .dar file in http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/addons.shtml
