Is it possible to start a text on p.1 and end it on p.4?

Here should go questions about transforming XML with XSLT and FOP.

Is it possible to start a text on p.1 and end it on p.4?

Post by pfrancois »

Hi

I generate a Bulletin of 4 pages with FOP. I want to start the editorial on page 1. If there is not enough room on page 1, I want to put, like in the diaries, "ends on page 4" and output the rest of the text on the last page.
Is this possible with XSL/FO?

Thanks

Hello,

In general it is not easy to determine how much of the editorial (50%, 80%) will fit on the first page when the FO transformation is running. You can divide the content of the editorial in the 2 parts before running the FO transformation and then run the transformation several times with each time moving some contents from the beginning of page 4 to the end of page 1 until you see on page 1 the needed output.

Hope that helps,
Sorin
