Oxygen Closes on file open !

Post by Bun0 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 1:11 am

I've had quite a weird problem since I moved to my new Vista machine... Each time I try to open a file from WITHIN Oxygen, it just closes it automatically !! That is REALLY annoying.

I can double-click a file from within Explorer and it will open it properly in Oxygen. But as soon as I go on the Oxygen Open dialog and open a file, Oxygen closes. No warning, no confirmation, no errors, nothing. Not even asking if I want to save my files...

I cannot even open a file to add it to a project, it closes Oxygen.
I tried upgrading from Oxygen 9.0 to 10.0 but still the same problem. I have Vista Enterprise SP1 32bit.

Anyone had a similar issue ?

I can live with opening files from Explorer, but now I can't even use projects !

Thanks for your help !

Hello,

This problem is most probably caused by the native file chooser(Open/Save dialog) that Oxygen uses on windows platforms. Oxygen should not try to use it a second time if it fails even once, but this doesn't seem to work for you.

To avoid the native file chooser you need to go the folder
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\com.oxygenxml
and create an empty text file named:
Win32FileChooserCrashGuard.txt

If this still doesn't solve the problem, you can try another approach.
Go to <oxygen_installation_folder>\lib and look for the files:
WinFileChooserNativeHelper32.dll
WinFileChooserNativeHelper64.dll

Rename these two files to something else:
_WinFileChooserNativeHelper32.dll
_WinFileChooserNativeHelper64.dll

Please let us know if any of these solutions solved the problem. Do not hesitate to contact us on support@oxygenxml.com if you require further assistance.
