Startup exceptions block whole IDE

Hi!

When starting Eclipse, there are timeouts in the startup code for Oxygen, blocking the whole application for 20-30 seconds. Eveything seems to be working afterwards, but it is very annoying to have to wait every time.

The stacktrace is below. System is Vista and Eclipse 3.4.

Dear Vlad,

Thank you for contacting us.

You are probably closing Eclipse with opened XML files so that when Eclipse is restarted it tries to activate the Oxygen plugin so that the files are reopened.

Unfortunately the Oxygen plugin is quite large and needs a couple of seconds to be activated and then, depending on the amount of opened files it needs time to open them. Eclipse has a timeout while waiting for a plugin to activate so that is the warning you find in the console.

You can see how much time Eclipse takes to start without opened XML files and how much time it takes to start with opened XML files and the difference should be no more than 5-6 seconds (but of course, it depends on the size of the opened files).

If the difference is large even if you have a small XML file opened, you can write us to our tech support address http://www.oxygenxml.com/techSupport.html and we'll try to enable logging in the Oxygen plugin to see what is the cause for the delay.

Was this ever resolved? I have the same issue and often resort to disabling the Oxygen plugin. I'm using version 9.3.0 of the plugin with Eclipse 3.3 on Windows XP.

This has been fixed but the fix is only available starting with v10.0.
