What is "Rename in" for?

Post by Eddie »

Hello,

I'm going through the refactoring functions in Author V20.
What is the "Rename in" command for (under "Refactoring" in the "Document" menu)?

At first I thought it was the same as "Rename" under "Refactoring" in the right-click menu, but having tried to use it, I assume it's different.
I can't be sure because I haven't been able to find a case in which "Rename in" is not greyed out.

Apologies if this is in the Help somewhere, but I can't find anything about it.

Cheers,
Eddie.

Hi Eddie,

That "Rename in" action is used on other vocabularies (like Docbook, XSLT or XML Schema) to rename various attribute values (variable names or IDs for example) and update references to them in the entire project.
It does not (yet) do anything for DITA, in a future version we might be able to make it work to rename IDs of DITA elements or topics in the entire DITA project.
