Saxon SA examples and help wanted for value checking

I would like to start learning and using Saxon SA's ability to do some checking of XML structures, now that Saxon SA is included with Oxygen 10. I understand that Saxon SA is able to do this kind of processing, including at least basic arithmetic. If I've been misled, please let me know. I do have a...

Re: MsoXmlEd.exe takes XML file association on installing Office

Sorin, Thanks for the info. I'm not sure about the frequency of double-clicking. Of course, we cannot rule out "operator error", that is, my mistakes or mis-perceptions. I've been confused about the 2 panes in the past when opening files. It doesn't happen too often, but I never know how i...

Re: MsoXmlEd.exe takes XML file association on installing Office

This is all running on my local PC, so I wouldn't think a firewall is involved. My Windows XP shortcut for Oxygen 10 does not have the -Dcom parameter specified. Is there another way for multiple instances to be set? Also, sometimes when I double-click to open a file, the file is opened in a new pan...

Re: MsoXmlEd.exe takes XML file association on installing Office

Here's a somewhat related question: Sometimes when I double-click on an .xml file to open it with Oxygen, a second instance of Oxygen will start, instead of using the currently running Oxygen window. Oxygen 10 is getting run in both windows, but I'm wondering how to get the file to open in the first...

Re: MsoXmlEd.exe takes XML file association on installing Office

Sorin, Correct, CCleaner seemed to make things work better. I can't claim positively that it was the sole fix, but it seems to me that it did the job. There was probably some registry issue that prevented me from making the .xml file association with Oxygen. CCleaner does check for registry problems...

Re: MsoXmlEd.exe takes XML file association on installing Office

I had a similar problem sometime after installing Oxygen 10. I don't know just when I started having trouble. But, in Windows Explorer, I would double-click on a file with type ".xml", and it would open in Internet Explorer. Not what I wanted! I can't remember during installation of Oxygen...

Command line to run a transformation on a source file

I am hoping it is possible to use the Oxygen 10 command line to invoke a transformation on an XML source file. Is this possible, and if so, what options and parameters are needed? Essentially, we'd like to be able to run an "Apply Transformation Scenario" from the command line on a given f...

Re: Files don't reopen when starting Oxygen 10

Using a "Project" was the answer.

Even though we don't use projects, I opened the sample project:
<oxygen directory>/samples/sample.xpr

Then when I open files, exit Oxygen, and restart Oxygen, my files get reopened.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Files don't reopen when starting Oxygen 10

Dear Iulian, All the files are local, on my C: drive in Windows XP. Normally I have about 6-8 files opened in tabs in Oxygen. None of the files belong to any project. They are all "independent" files, but under the same main directory on my C: drive. Any changes to the contents of the file...

In Oxygen 9.3, previously open files were reopened when Oxygen was restarted (say, when starting the day's work activities). Oxygen 10 is not opening any files for me when I start it. Perform "Format and Indent" from the command line?

Can the Oxygen "Format and Indent" operation be performed from the command line? I have some XML files generated by another tool, and would like to automatically format them after they're generated. I'd rather not use any kind of 'format on open' option, since I don't want that to happen f...

Re: How to allow element to appear 0, or 2 or more times

Got it! I wasn't using the External Validation to get Schematron involved. After viewing George's demo: http://www.oxygenxml.com/demo/schematronValidation/schematron.html and then refining my schema, I got things to work. Thanks a lot for the example above. Once I correctly converted it to my namesp...

Re: How to allow element to appear 0, or 2 or more times

I've modified my schema to include the Schematron elements you suggested (modified by my namespace, etc.). However, the Schematron assertion doesn't seem get tested. I used the assertion (where your RBFMElement assertion was placed) <sch:assert test="12 > 99"/> which didn't fail as I thoug...

Re: How to allow element to appear 0, or 2 or more times

I'm still not clear on why my schema above is failing. I was hoping I was close to the example below from chapter 13 of Patricia Walmsley's book Definitive XML Schema. Can't I intermix RBFMElements with the RBElements? I'm not seeing the critical difference. [Side note: We don't have access to Saxon...

How to allow element to appear 0, or 2 or more times

I have a working schema for data that we use, and want to expand it to do more checking on the XML elements. We have a particular data element, say <FM>, that does not have to appear in our data, but if it does, it must appear at least twice, and possibly more. That is, I want to detect a singular o...

Re: Validating XML files during a transformation

I was thinking of XML schema aware validation during XSLT transformations. Since we don't have Saxon 9SA, that option is out for the moment. I had seen this web page: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/xml/library/x-schemaxslt.html which uses <xsl:import-schema schema-location="po1.xsd"/> a...

I've successfully defined some keys and keyrefs in a schema for my data. One section of data has several out-of-bounds data values in it, but the appropriate keyref and Oxygen 9.1 only gives an error on the first occurance of an error. When I fix that error, the next one is flagged with an error mes...
