Differences on 6.1 on MacOS and Linux

Oxygen 6.1 (not 6.1.1) on Mac G4, MacOS 10.3.9 Server a document that transformed OK on Oxygen 5.1 now fails to transform (to XHTML) on 6.1 (although it checks out well-formed and vaild) with the message E (class: com/icl/saxon/style/XSLApplyTemplates, method: validate signature: ()V) Illegal consta...

Sorin Many thanks for the quick reply. I have enabled FOP output and set memory for the FOP process to 1000MB. I also had, and still have, 1000MB set in oxygenMac.sh - I didn't realize this was not an overall setting. I've now moved completely to oxygen 5, the html and copy transformation work OK, t...

memory problems with Java (latest Mac release for 10.3.6)

I have just moved from Mac OS X Server 10.2.8 to Server 10.3.6 (on G4 Server hardware, 1.25 GB memory) This included a move up from the first update of Java to the second - 2nd. update is only for 10.3.5 on. Under Oxygen 4.2 on MacOS 10.2.8 with Docbook 4.3 pre-release everything worked fine - XIncl...

JAI installation - see doc on "How to Add ..."

The Sun java site offers 12 versions of the JAI code - for Windows, Linux, Sun Sparc and Sun X86; JDK, JRE, and CLASSPATH for each case. The size of the downloads varies from 2.5 MB for Linux to 18 MB for Soalaris. Which do I need for MacOS X (10.2.8 or 10.3.5 - I'm in the process of moving to 10.3....

Some time ago I posted a message about this problem - got no reply. Briefly, on MacOS 10.2.8 or on 10.3.5, with 1.25GB memory. 1.0 GB allocated to Oxygen, G4 server hardware, I get the same "out of memory" during transformations. This problem ONLY occurs after I have been working on several files fo...

Icelandic come over OK as George recommends - but try and get the Old English charcter 'yogh' in any font set.
nearest I get to it is 3 in the Herculanum font that Apple supply - but not much use to people who don't use apple

Feature request (well, sort of)

This may well be only relevant to Mac users. (10.2.8 on G4 Server) When I do an [open] or a [save as], I get thrown right back to the root directory, and have to navigate through a complex directory structure before I can complete my [open] or [save as]. Wouldn't it be possible to have Oxygen behave...

Possible spurious error messages about xref's

It looks like I'm getting spurious error messages when I use xref's to id's in xinclude's. Or I'm doing something wrong. Any help welcome. No ultimate problem, the documents transform OK and the links work, it's just that I wasted time chasing errors that weren't there. (Latest Oxygen, MacOS 10.2.8 ...

Val Instead of using entities, I now use xi:includes - much more flexible. These work fine with Oxygen 3.1, and can be nested to any depth - <book> includes <part>s, which include <chapter>s, which include <section>s - all in separate files. I also use <formalpara> to get a final sub-division within...

George OK, I finally beat this one. It wasn't a catalog problem at all. Perhaps the answer might be of interest to others. When I tried to chunk XHTML output - any of following ways: 1. No XSL customization, no catalog (other than the default ones that Oxygen throws in). XSLT by chunk.xsl Save As se...

George Thanks for pointing me to the catalog - that looks like where the problem might be. I did correct a 3.0 to 3.1 error in the catalog, but all that did was change the line in chunk.xsl that gave the error E Failed to compile stylesheet. 1 error detected. E failure reading file:/html/docbook.xsl...

At present you have to drop out of Oxygen and use something like BBedit on Mac or Windows, or awk/gawk on unix. Tedious, but it works. The memory solution in Oxygen would be a sliding window, possibly configurable to a max. number of end-of-lines in a window. Tedius and probably slow, as window over...

XInclude problems with DocBook and Oxygen 3

Hi George Many thanks for the help - mixing the XInclude namespaces certainly was a problem (my mistake, I tried moving from 2001 to 2003 and didn't do it completely. I've now dropped back to 2001 throughout.) However, there is a further problem. I can now do XIncludes OK up to two levels, but it di...
