I think one of the acceptable solutions is that after the Copy XPath action, the current XPath could be copied to the XPath Builder panel and, at the same time, displayed in the status bar, thus overriding the original content (which is mostly the file name--I think, this is unnecessary since it is ...

XPath at the cursor position in the XML Editor perspective
Hi, Is there any way to see the XPath of the element where the text cursor is placed? Maybe the status bar is a good place for it? I know I can copy and paste the current XPath but this is only a workaround. I have searched the Oxygen documentation for XPath but have not found anything on this matte...

XInclude validation problem
Hi, I have a DocBook DTD 4.4 article with XIncludes and I cannot validate it. Is anything wrong with my Oxygen 7/WinXP configuration or with my source file? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE article PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.4//EN" "http:/...

Seems my last question is still unanswered. Something's changed since I have Windows XP and Oxygen 7 installed on it. When I use Xalan or XsltProc to create a taget database (target.db), the output file is automatically saved in the current directory, that is, the same where the transformed file is ...

I would also suggest a small improvement to the existing functionality. When on-the-fly spell checker is enabled, and thus misspelled words are underlined, I would love if the context menu invoked on a misspelled word listed suggested words on top of it. Right now, spell checker is well hidden on se...

Calling the transformation scenario from the command line
Hi, Is there any way to invoke a defined transformation scenario from a command line, that is, without launching the Oxygen's GUI? Or, alternatively, is there any way to export/translate a scenario into a command line that can be used later for a different purpose? I have some problems with the conf...

Hi Sorin, this is it! You are absolutely right, collecting and offering IDs from all documents within a project, or from all files used to generate the target database is the approach I meant. I guess finding all ID within the active document does not require code enhancement. Can IDs be found using...

Well, for me, better support means not only following the formal rules but also adding some intelligence. In other words, not only syntax matters, semantics is as much important. So, since every DocBook user knows that, for example, olink may require targetptr , and the value of targetptr is always ...

Better support for DocBook
Hi all, I guess this can be useful for those who use Oxygen to author in DocBook XML. Some DocBook tags require specifying an ID to cross-reference to a part of a document. Oxygen does not support IDs, that is, the editor does not give hints on the IDs defined across the source files within the proj...

Well, I thought about the native support in Oxygen, not the using Eclipse functionality. While I use Oxygen as a standalone application, I just don't want to launch another application to access the source control system (namely, Visual SourceSafe). I think this is not a big deal to extend the proje...

Integration with a source control system
Hi all, I can't find anything on this topic in the forum archive, so decided to start a new topic. I'd love to see some kind of integration of Oxygen with the existing source control systems. Projects are good candidates to start with. I see this integration as a visual clue (file is checked out) an...

Installation problem
Hi, I have upgraded my OS to Win XP SP2 and encountered the following behavior: * Oxygen 5.1 freezes to dead when run under JRE 1.5 while modifying a scenario. It looks like the dialog looses the focus and one cannot close the dialog box. You have to kill the app. Very annoying but likely JRE is the...

Thanks, it is quite a helpful parameter. Anyways, when Saxon parses the XML file, the output (target.db) is saved to an udefined system directory (in my case, c:\program files\common files\system\mapi\1033\nt). Scenario setting for the file location isn't taken into account (${cfd} and ${cfn} seem n...

Passing DocBook transformation parameters
Hi all, I noticed that when I want to generate target.db file for olinks used in my documents, only xlstproc can do it, that is, generate target.db if I specify it as an XSL processor. Other processors, icluding xalan or saxon, seem not to receive the transformation parameter from the scenario setti...

XSL Transformation: append header and footer
Hi, I don't know how this feature is supposed to work. Maybe anyone has experience with it? I want my HTML pages to have the same header. So when I defined a scenario to convert DocBook files into HTML, I also specified a header. It is a short piece of HTML. I expected that Oxygen will append the he...

smaug, as a workaround, one can use <xml-stylesheet> and browse the source docbook file in a web browser. But this solution has some drawbacks, for example entites are not resolved, also XInclude doesn't work. You say your transformation is fast. It all depends on the power of your PC and size of th...

Well, I don't think so. A web browser fails on resolving entities, at least Firefox/Win. MSIE doesn't even give any output. Any browser probably will also not be able to render the document quite correctly, since CSS stylesheets are not the same as XSL stylesheets. However, I'd appreciate if readers...

Well, this doesn't seem to be extremely difficult. Oversimplifying, all you need is to incorporate a bit customized web browser module that supports CSS and simplified, very fast transformation from DocBook to HTML. You don't have to be 100% accurate with this transformation, especially when it come...

Visualizing your document
I'd love it if Oxygen had a feature to visualize the edited document. I mean, when I work with DocBook documents, I often have to show my peers how the output will roughly look like. I can't do this with Oxygen. So I switch to XMLMind XML Editor, load the document and voila! I can even customize the...

Modal Find box
Hi there, could you, please, explain me, if it is possible to set the Find dialog box on top but not modal. When I work with the Find and Replace dialog box, it is difficult due to Oxygen's behavior. It highlights the found phrase but sometimes in very stranges places of the screen. To scroll to edi...
