Re: My reusable component element suddenly went awry

I think I've figured it out. The "correct" product name strings are inserted when "Root map = <current map>". The "incorrect" strings are inserted when I set root map to another ditamap. I inherited this project where the previous writer created an "overall" ditamap that included both our user guide...

My reusable component element suddenly went awry

This is a tricky one to explain, but I'll do my best. In my project, we have resource files that contain reusable components for things like our company name, product name, etc. Until now, this feature has been rock solid: when I insert the variable from the DITA Reusable Components window, it works...

Re: Annoying UI behavior--is this a bug?

Interesting. I just learned something new! But, if you watch my video clip again, that "Link with Editor" button is not active (unless I'm misinterpreting the depressed/not depressed buttons. You really do need better icons!). The point may be moot though--I just tried my test again, with the button...

Annoying UI behavior--is this a bug?

I've run into this very annoying UI "glitch" that sometimes occurs. Here are the steps to reproduce: Open several ditamaps in the DITA Maps Manager. In my test, I opened child (chapter) ditamaps from within my user manual. In one ditamap, open a topic for editing. Close the topic that you just opene...

Re: My reuse string files are not resolvable outside of the root map

Hi Radu. I tried your suggestion that you emailed me and it seems to have fixed the problem! Setting fix.external.refs.com.oxygenxml to 'true' worked.

Thanks.

Re: My reuse string files are not resolvable outside of the root map

Hi Radu. I'm just going through my old posts and I realized that I never tried your suggestion above. I just did my own workaround of importing the topic I want into a separate small temporary project. Anyhow, I've tried inserting a topicref to the key definitions map as you suggested, but my reuse ...

"uicontrol" renders differently between projects

I just discovered something very puzzling. In our doc set, the previous writers used the "uicontrol" tag to render not just UI controls, but then they started using it as a replacement for the "<b>" tag to bold text. I think it's poor form to do this, but it seemed to work. Now I've discovered a gli...

Re: Profiling colors don't show in "resolved topics" view

Thanks, Radu. But when I go to that page and try to edit the document type for my colors, the "Document type" field is uneditable. How do I change "DITA" to "DITA*"?

(And there really should be an easier way to make the colors apply to both dita and ditamap topics.)

Profiling colors don't show in "resolved topics" view

I have "Show Profiling Colors and Styles" turned on all the time. When I an editing an individual topic, these colors display as expected. However when I use the "Open Map in Editor with resolved topics" button, the topics do not show the profiling colors, even though I've confirmed that the "Show P...

Re: <shortdesc> content not displaying within
in PDF

Hi Radu. I'm not sure, I thought I was using the "stock" PDF engine in Oxygen, but there may have been some customizations installed by the previous writer. I'm new to Oxygen and to DITA. How do I check and what should I look for? For what it's worth, I also created a small project with a single top...

Okay, I've randomized my project and emailed it to support@oxygenxml.com. What a nifty feature!

Please let me know what you find.

Thank you.

Re: How to resolve "linktext" issues?

I am using OxygenXML Author 20.1, build 2018080903. I am certain that I'm using the bundled publishing engine.

Unfortunately, I could not replicate this error by creating a small sample project.

How to resolve "linktext" issues?

When I do a PDF transform, I get errors like the following: Unable to retrieve linktext from target: '<file_name>.dita'. Using navigation title as fallback. There are also variants that don't have the "Using navigation title as fallback." sentence. I also get errors like this: The file ../subdirecto...

<shortdesc> content not displaying within
in PDF

I have discovered that content in a <shortdesc> element embedded within an
is not being rendered in PDF, contrary to what's described in your documentation. For example I have this:
<shortdesc>My introductory paragraph in the short desc.</shortdesc> Other text in the abstract f...

Re: My reuse string files are not resolvable outside of the root map

This is unfortunate. Is this a defect that will be resolved?

And can you tell me how to do this?
refer from the chapter DITA Map the DITA Map which defines the keys
Thanks.

My reuse string files are not resolvable outside of the root map

We maintain several .xml files containing strings that are used frequently, for example: our product name, our company name. We've placed these string files in its own directory and they are referenced their own ditamap. We reference them using a conkeyref like this: <ph conkeyref="strings-prods/pro...

Re: Topics findable even when processing-role="resource-only"

Hi. Here is the topic: https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/m/dita1.2_spec/archSpec/ditamap-attributes.html The part that mislead me is this sentence: "It is not included in navigation or search results, nor is it rendered as a topic." But as I look at it again, I realize that this part of your docs is sim...

Re: Topics findable even when processing-role="resource-only"

Yes, that would be a good enhancement request. At least then the system behaviour will match your documentation!

Alternatively, log a doc bug. Right now, your documentation incorrectly states that using processing-role="resource-only" excludes the topics from the search.

Re: Topics findable even when processing-role="resource-only"

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know about the search="no" attribute. I was under the impression that, based on your documentation, setting processing-role="resource-only" automatically excludes the topics from search. Are you saying that I must also add the search="no" attribute to these topics?

Topics findable even when processing-role="resource-only"

In our project, we have a ditamap named "_reuse". It has this attribute: <map processing-role="resource-only"> This ditamap references several child ditamaps. For example: <mapref href="data_metadata.ditamap" format="ditamap"/> These child maps also have "<map processing-role="resource-only"> . They...

Re: Key references not showing up in PDF

Hi Radu. I am using OxygenXML Author 20.1, build 2018080903. I checked the settings for the PDF transformation and it already shows "true" for fix.external.refs.com.oxygenxml There were a number of errors and warnings after the transformation, but none that obviously relate to referenced material. I...

Key references not showing up in PDF

Hi. I'm new to OxygenXML and to Dita. I'm taking over a doc set from a previous writer. He made liberal use of key references to reference topics. This has caused problems in our PDF output for some reason. What I've seen so far: The referenced topic simply disappears, leaving a blank space that our...

Errors when performing a transformation

Hello. I am new to OxygenXML and new to DITA as well. When I perform a PDF transform, I get many errors like these: [DOTJ065I] Branch filter generated topic _reuse/manage_current_filter.dita used more than once. Renaming _reuse/manage_current_filter.dita to _reuse/manage_current_filter-2.dita. [DOTJ...
