oXygen API Call to bring up Validation Panel?

Hello, We've been using oXygen's Custom Validation for a while, but recently updated to oXygen 18. Previously, we had a separate button in the menu that writers could click, and it would activate the Custom Validation, do the validation, and bring up the panel. However, with oXygen 18, the button is...

Re: Default Options in the Find/Replace in Multiple Files Dialog

Hi Florin,

My writer got back to me with this response:
Yes, this accurately describes what happens, and yes, I would like it to default to Current file directory.

If this is possible, please let me know. Thanks again for your swift response.

Cheers,
Anne

Re: Default Options in the Find/Replace in Multiple Files Dialog

Hi Florin, For your first point, no, we use DOCBOOK, which is DTD-based, not schema-based. We are looking into DITA, but have not yet switched over. When I mean book, I mean a manual or a user guide. Sorry for the confusion. As to your second point, I relayed back what you said and the writer has re...

Default Options in the Find/Replace in Multiple Files Dialog

Hello, I have a writer who is using the Find/Replace in Multiple Files dialog box. If he used Specified Path on one book and then switches book, the default option is still set to Specified Path. Is there a way to set the options in this dialog box such that Current File Open is automatically chosen...

Disregard my last message, I was looking in App Data and not Application Data! Sorry!

Re: Location of user preferences/scenarios files

Hi Adrian,

Is this still true for oXygen Author 16 and up? I just checked my local folder and it's saying that the location doesn't exist.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Editing file will change location in Find results

Hi Adrian,

No worries! Thanks for the confirmation. I think the workaround is working for our writers at the moment, so if there's nothing else I can do about it, then at least we know that.

Thanks again for the help.

Cheers,
Anne

Re: Editing file will change location in Find results

Hi Patrik and Adrian, Patrik, that's a rather clever workaround. Let me get back to my writer and see if that works for him. Adrian, thank you for that additional information about File/Replace in Files vs File/Replace dialog. I believe he was using File/Replace dialog, but I have emailed him to dou...

Editing file will change location in Find results

Hello, If I run Find for a term in oXygen, I get a panel of results. If I double-click on one of those results, it will take me to that file and then highlight the exact location of where the term I searched for is. This is a great feature that is often used. However, if I make a change to the file ...

Re: End tags cutting off inside text in Author mode of Mac

Thank you for the update, Adrian!! We created the .sh script so that oXygen launches with all our customizations in it, so we will work with our writer on what will be best practice. We are leaning towards just not supporting Macs entirely, since that's our group policy. Thank you again for taking a...

Re: End tags cutting off inside text in Author mode of Mac

Hi Radu and Adrian, Sorry for the late response! My writer has just submitted the report via the Help menu, As for Command +, he says this: However, the second suggestion mentions installing oxygen 16.1 with Java 1.8 bundled. Isn’t that our current version? At any rate, I’m already running Java 8.45...

End tags cutting off inside text in Author mode of Mac

Hello, I have a writer who is using oXygen Author 16.1 on a Mac. He is having problems with the end tags of elements cutting off the text inside of it. For example: This is what it looks like in Text Mode: <para>If IP multicast is enabled on the IP subnets on which the service nodes reside, you can ...

Re: Diff Tool and White Spaces

Hi,

I have sent the two files that were originally causing problems (before selecting the "Format and Indent Both Files" option).

The files seem to be working now, but there is a jpeg attached to the email that shows that this was happening previously.

Cheers,
Anne

Re: Diff Tool and White Spaces

Hi, Sorry, I should have added in my original post that Ignore White Spaces were on . The problem was that the white spaces were different symbols and I'm guessing that the encoding was being read differently in each file. Even with this setting on, it was reporting the changes. I did not know that ...

Diff Tool and White Spaces

One of our writers was using the diff tool in oXygen to compare old files and new files (XML), but it was reporting a lot of differences, because of white spaces. Specifically, instead of showing a middot (·) to indicate white spaces, a tab character was appearing instead () in one of the files. The...
