Re: Convert > to > with Smart Paste (Docbook)
I don't know that it's a feature useful enough to be worth implementing for everyone. And I plan on telling the person using this workflow to just use a regular expression to achieve the correct result. But I'd hoped there might be an easy way to implement a customization for this and save them a st...

Convert > to > with Smart Paste (Docbook)
I seem to recall that the Smart Paste feature in earlier versions of OxgyenXML would convert both < to < and > to > when pasting in Author mode from Word. I'm using 19 now, and only the < is being converted to <. I realize that you don't NEED the > to convert since it doesn't invalidate the XML, but...

How to enable custom CSS properties in CSS validation
My CSS stylesheets make use of some CSS3 paged media module properties and selectors as well as a properties that are specific to my software. When editing my CSS in Oxygen, I get a ton of errors and warnings because of this. It makes CSS validation not useful. I saw your documentation for adding cu...

Re: XHTML5 Pretty Print
Thanks, Adrian. I guess I didn't realize <section> is mixed. Seems strange to make it so (but out of our hands). Your suggestion works perfectly, though. I could set this particular project to use Project Options and turn off Schema Aware Indent for just XHTML5-based projects, right? I'll give that ...

XHTML5 Pretty Print
Hi, I'm trying out some XHTML5 workflows, coming from DocBook. When I work in DocBook, the pretty print (Format and Indent) feature is incredibly helpful for navigating my documents. However, I'm struggling with the output of this same feature in XHTML5. Many block elements are being running togethe...

adding 2 css stylesheets in DocBook to EPUB
In order to keep my files simple, I'd like to add 2 stylesheets to my epub (generated from DocBook via the ANT transform). One stylesheet will override a few lines in the much larger second (this keeps me from having to maintain 2 complete stylesheets). I know how to get my custom stylesheet into th...

Re: "missing cover" when creating Kindle file from epub
Thank you for your help, Dan. Implementing your suggestion did fix the ambiguity, but it replaced the xhtml namespace in the meta tag with the OPF namespace, which still breaks the Kindle conversion. However, I was able to get it to work by changing the xsl:element tag for meta to <opf:meta> (as you...

Re: "missing cover" when creating Kindle file from epub
Hi Radu. Jason Zech here. I see how your workaround would be effective, but since most of my projects involve a number of people on a number of remote computers over SVN, can you suggest a workaround that doesn't involve customizing the local build.xml file on every computer? Is there an XSL customi...

Re: Can I use entities and xincludes in the same XML file?
Thanks, Adrian. That's what I thought. Using xinclude to substitute for characters would be really cumbersome, but I like using xinclude for large files. I'm glad to see they work okay together.
Thanks for your response.

Can I use entities and xincludes in the same XML file?
Hi, I believe it is technically feasible for me to use entities and xincludes in the same XML file. But I believe it is not considered good practice. I'm wondering if anyone could suggest a more orthodox way of doing what I am doing. I'm working in DocBook 5.0, using a heavily customized XSLT to out...

Getting images to work in DB epub ANT transformation
Hi, I'm working with the Docbook to ePub transform you guys built in ANT. I'm doing very heavy customization of the underlying DocBook XSL to get the output I want. One problem I've been running into is that the ANT transform fails when I try to insert an image via XSLT. For example, I've customized...

Re: Validating with xinclude or entities
That's odd. I don't get validation errors using your sample, though I don't see what's different. As with your sample, I'm using a relative path. The files I'm including are in the same folder, so I just use this: <xi:include href="chapter04.xml"/> The only difference I see is that you hav...

Validating with xinclude or entities
Hi, I feel like I must be missing something simple here. I am working in DocBook 5 docs using xinclude. Both Author mode and the transforms pull in the xinclude files just fine, so I'm not having trouble using them. However, I always get a validation error with xincludes. Usually along the lines of ...

Re: filenames for epub images in images folder
The issue I'm having is that I run a batch file and perl script after transformation to make a few additional changes to the epub (my Batch/Perl is much better than my XSLT/ANT). Windows XP command line, for some reason, chokes on the long filename of the image file (my project directories that hold...

filenames for epub images in images folder
Hi, While I am pretty happy with the output of the epub ant transform, I'm having trouble with the way the transform changes the names of my image files when it copies them into the epub images folder. Some element of the transform is changing my image filenames and I can't figure out where it occur...

Re: Bug in Mac version: pasting HTML>Docbook
Thanks for the reply. The one intermediate part I hadn't considered is the browser I am copying from. I am opening my HTML in a browser, copying all the text, and then pasting into DocBook in Author Mode (so that the background HTML tags are converted to the basic DocBook tags). Again, this works fi...

Bug in Mac version: pasting HTML>Docbook
This problem only seems to apply to the mac version of Oxygen Editor, as I am able to successfully perform this action on the PC version. I am unable to copy and paste large chunks of simple HTML text into a DocBook book document. When I try to do it, I get an error message: "Resetting to inval...

Lists in DocBook Smart Paste
Hi, I've had good success with Oxygen's smart paste, going from Word to Oxygen. For some reason, in my newest document, Oxygen isn't getting the lists right. I have the lists in a Word document formatted as a plain bulleted list with the List Paragraph paragraph style (these are defaults). But when ...

Re: version control docbook2epub customizations
I didn't want to mess with the out-of-the-box transform so I: 1) in the docbook/xsl/epub/bin folder I created myBuild.xml which is a copy of build.xml that references my customization layer instead of the standard docbook.xsl. <!-- Stylesheet for META-INF/container.xml, OPF and NCX output files. -->...

version control docbook2epub customizations
Hi, I really love the new DocBook to Epub transformation. I've been able to go in there and add a couple files to customize the output a bit, and everything is working great. However, due to the setup in my organization, I'd like to be able to version control my 2-3 customization files within the ve...

Re: <xsl:import href... why won't relative path work?
Ah! I think I found the problem, and of course it was of my own doing. I was experimenting with catalog files (still don't quite get them). I'd created my own and added it to the list of catalog files. This thing, I believe, pointed to the old location. Once I deleted it, the transformed worked just...

Re: <xsl:import href... why won't relative path work?
That's not the issue. I did double check, and the XSL URL is referring to the stylesheet I want. But that stylesheet has an import, and it is the import that is failing. The problem is that the relative path to the import file is fine: <xsl:import href="docbook-xsl-ns-1.76.1/html/docbook.xsl&qu...

<xsl:import href... why won't relative path work?
Hi, I'm still fairly new to XSLT & Oxygen, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I'm writing a customization layer for the DocBook XSL stylesheets. In my layer I import the standard style sheets with this: <xsl:import href="docbook-xsl-ns-1.76.1/html/docbook.xsl"/> The full direc...

Re: DocBook to Epub cover tweaks
I was able to get the template in that removes "cover-image" successfully. Changing the xsl:if that handles filenaming might be beyond my current XSLT skills. I'll keep poking at it.
Thank you for the help.
