All solutions are helpful..I used the ceiling function which
pretty does what I want.

I can't rember if you
are using xslt 1 or 2, in 1, perhaos teh easiest way would be

<xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test="$var &gt;= 0"><xsl:value-of  ....floor($var)
<xsl:otherwise>.................................ceil(....

or (as there may be
edge cases with formatting negative numbers anyway perhaps


<xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test="$var &gt;= 0"><xsl:value-of  ....floor($var)
<xsl:otherwise>-<xsl:value-of  ....floor(-$var)
