I realise I am actually offending the XSL standard nearly dayly. I never use priority. I remember only one occasion were I had to use priority. Luckily most parsers only warn about these 'conflicts', would make my life a lot more awkward...

neither pattern is of a form that is given a special priority so they both have the default priority of 0.5
this is actually an error and the processor could just stop, but if it does carry on it has to choose the last template in the stylesheet.
