Thanks David! >don't you want to put in some separator between teh uri and local >name, so the transformation is reversible? I just assume that the URI ends with a / or a # as a separator. I don't feel any need to make it reversible because generated prefixes (e.g. ns1, ns2, etc.) work just as well. If they don't, the software that chokes on them made some assumptions it shouldn't have.
