Tomas, you appear to have uncovered a bug in the parser bundled with Java 1.4.

But is there a reason you have to use an entity, and not simply the xsl:include mechanism? I'm sure there are readers of this list who can give concrete reasons why it's generally not a good idea. I can't say specifically, although I do feel this is putting your "include" in the wrong layer of the system.
