<p>Hi, <br>
</p>
<p>From your message I understand that you have a framework that was
created before oXygen 18. <br>
</p>
<p>In the last version we have updated the frameworks table
operations. For example, we have removed the "Join Row Cells",
"Join Cell Above" and "Join Cell Bellow" operations and we have
added a single operation called "Join", that allows you to join
all selected cells (similarly, there is a single split operation
now). <br>
</p>
<p>To have access to the improved table operations you should get
the last built-in framework. If you need to do some framework
customization, <span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span
class="">I suggest you to use the framework extensions
functionality. </span></span><br>
In this way, you can benefit of new functionality added to the
base framework by newer version. Here are more details: </p>
<p><span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span class=""><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://blog.oxygenxml.com/2015/08/document-type-extension-sharing.html">http://blog.oxygenxml.com/2015/08/document-type-extension-sharing.html</a></span></span></p>
<p><span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span class=""><br>
</span></span></p>
<p><span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span class="">Now,
back to your problem. My question is: how do you select the
two side-by-side cells? The old "Join Row Cells" operation
works only on continuous selection. So, for example, if you
select the cells by using CTRL + click, the operation will
provide the same message you mentioned: <br>
</span></span></p>
<p><span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span class=""> "The
operation is enabled only when there is a selection that
contains at least two cells from the same row of a table or
when the caret is positioned between two horizontally adjacent
cells."</span></span></p>
<p><span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span class="">If
this is your case, try to select the two cells by mouse drag
(or by using SHIFT + arrows keys) before invoking the join
operation.<br>
</span></span></p>

<pre wrap="">Good morning,
I want to join 2 table-cells. If one is below or above the other – easy. But I want to join two cells side by side:
I put the cursor in the right cell, this message appears: »The operation is enabled only when there is a selection that contains at least two cells from the same row of a table or when the caret is positioned between two horizontally adjacent cells.«
I mark 2 cells, the button is enabled.
What is to do?
Kind regards
