Hi Radu,

XLIFF 2.0 was approved as an OASIS Standard last August. The spec is here:
http://docs.oasis-open.org/xliff/xliff-core/v2.0/os/xliff-core-v2.0-os.htmlhttp://docs.oasis-open.org/xliff/xliff-core/v2.0/os/xliff-core-v2.0-os.html
and the schemas here: http://docs.oasis-open.org/xliff/xliff-core/v2.0/os/schemas/

Hi Felix,

That's great. We would need several things to add some minimal XLiff
support:

1) Recognize "xlf" by default as XML-type extension. I already made changes for the next Oxygen version (17) to do this. In the meantime users can go to the Preferences->"File Types" preferences page and add it there.

2) Default schema to be used for XLiff validation and content completion (if the XLiff does not explicitly refer to one).

3) New XLiff file template for creating XLiff files more easily.

4) New XML catalog in a framework configuration which maps references to remote HTTP XLiff schemas to local copies.

5) A CSS which could be used to render and edit the XLiff in the Author visual editing mode.

I'm attaching a small xliff framework configuration I just created which can be unpacked in the "OXYGEN_INSTALL_DIR\frameworks" folder.
The framework configuration should cover (2) and (3) with the default schema being the one for XLiff 1.2.

So if you have small XLiff samples and some idea about how a CSS for editing XLiff should look like or if you can come up with an XML catalog for mapping references to remote XLiff XML Schemas to local copies this would be great.
Also I'm not sure about all the XLiff flavors, there are the XLiff 1.1 and 1.2 specs and schemas, does anybody use 1.1 anymore?

Regards,
Radu

For example to give us some xliff samples, tell us about what schemas can be used for xliff validation, give us feedback about how a CSS for editing in the Author visual editing mode should look like in order to be helpful.
