OK--that's what I am doing (setting the entity resolver property on the 
reader).

Not really an issue to discusss on this forum, but the problem I'm 
running into is that while the above sets the resolver for the parser, 
it doesn't set it for the schema loader, which, at least as I have 
things configured, defaults to the base XMLEntityResolver.

But when using oXygen I do get schema locations resolved through the 
catalog, albeit via the wrong kind of entries, so I must be missing 
something somewhere.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.
