Sorry about the bad formatting - this is a version of the paper resuscitated when IDEAlliance decided to take their archives off the public web.
I don't see why you imagine that stripping comments and extra whitespace from a stylesheet would speed it up.
Do you have a performance problem? If so, please describe it, and perhaps we can help. If not, why are you doing this?

I am writing an XSLT optimizer, basically stripping comments and extra white-space from an XSLT document for production deployment.
I don't see why you imagine that stripping comments and extra whitespace from a stylesheet would speed it up.
Do you have a performance problem? If so, please describe it, and perhaps we can help. If not, why are you doing this?
