Florent - thanks much. The Saxon documentation says to use
"com.icl.saxon.StyleSheet" which doesn't work. When I use
"net.sf.saxon.Transform" per your suggestion it works great. I'm guessing this
is what I will need to make it run properly in my Unix environment. Thanks
very much for your help.

As Owen said, this has nothing to do with the OS, but with Java itself. The
-jar option makes the JVM to ignore the classpath. You have to change it into
java -cp "...;.../saxon9.jar" net.sf.saxon.Transform ...
See the Saxon doc and the links provided by Owen.
