Do you just need to normalize the text in the ontologies? (strip leading
and trailing spaces, collapse all other runs of spaces to a single
space?) You could use this:

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
	<xsl:template match="* | comment() | processing-instruction()">
		<xsl:copy>
			<xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()" />
		</xsl:copy>
	</xsl:template>
	<xsl:template match="@*">
		<xsl:attribute name="{name()}">
			<xsl:value-of select="normalize-space()" />
		</xsl:attribute>
	</xsl:template>
	<xsl:template match="text()">
		<xsl:value-of select="normalize-space()" />
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>

It would surprise me if this question were in scope for XSL-List.

Please find a more appropriate place to ask general questions such as
this one. If, after you have a better understanding of what you want
to do, you find that you have specific XSL questions on how to do a
transformation, you are welcome to bring those XSL-related questions
