From what I understand from the documentation is that all you need to do is return any one of the following objects:
but that is straight from the documentation, so perhaps you have tried that already. If you still have trouble, you may have more luck on the Xalan mailing list: xalan-j-users@xxxxxxxxxx (send a message to xalan-j-users-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxx) for Xalan specific questions (this list is XSLT/XSL-FO generic).

org.w3c.dom.traversal.NodeIterator org.apache.xml.dtm.DTM org.apache.xml.dtm.DTMAxisIterator org.apache.xml.dtm.DTMIterator org.w3c.dom.Node
