have you made a mistake in the call with-param? the above suggests that you
are passing in an integer (which is the type of the other param, level,
rather than a sequence of p elements which is the type of the param p.
<xsl:with-param name="p" select="w:p"/>
<xsl:with-param name="level" select="1"/>
