Sorry when my phrase "I suggest using '=' instead of 'eq'" would seem
like a general claim, I just forgot to add "in this case".
My sole intent was to propose using "=" in the case described, i.e. when
trying to test for membership of a string in a sequence. (I first was
looking for an algorithmic solution, but then happily discovered that
all I had to do was to use the general comparison provided by "=". Must
have missed something at the time when I was learning XSLT 1.0...).
But I am glad having read your insights into the nature of these operators.
