var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("msxml2.domdocument.3.0");
rather than either this line:
var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("microsoft.xmldom");
or by using a data island.

Right, i forgot aboutYou also have to make sure the version 3 parser is invoked. To be absolutely certain you need to use the line:
xmlDoc.setProperty("SelectionLanguage", "XPath");
That solves everithing. Oh well, i just have the chance to write a piece of scrap anyhow...
var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("msxml2.domdocument.3.0");
rather than either this line:
var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("microsoft.xmldom");
or by using a data island.
