Thanks for your help. Although I cant believe it, it works and seems to be working no matter how many ancestors up the attribute was specified for the last time... gives priority to attributes in the current node then visits all ancestors from immediate and up, and copies each attribute has not been copied yet? It's been some time since I checked the spec, plus I've never actually used this axis.
