What the blurb posted here left off (bottom of the site screen)

In future versions... How often have we seen that? And I like the way
"(UTF-16 etc.)" smooths over the fact that utf-8, the default XML
encoding, isn't supported and the authors see no real need why it should
be.

Not surprising we get so many encoding heachaches here while this
attitude prevails.
