RE: [xsl] Vendor-specific data-types

extension functions".  Since adding data-types extends XSLT, this sentence
implies that vendors may not do this.

I admit that my argument is inconclusive--the spec just doesn't seem to
resolve this question clearly either way.  This would be a good candidate
for WG debate and insertion into the errata.

XPath says (section 1) that the value of an expression may be "of additional
types not specified here".

Beyond that, I can only fall back on the defense that everything is allowed
unless the spec prohibits it; and it doesn't prohibit vendor-defined data
types.
