I recognize that xml file...
You're doing the right thing by going through Mike Kay's book.
The reason you're getting something here is because you changed the original stylesheet that you posted to this one, which has no template specified for the root element, so you're getting the default templates kicking in. Hold on a minute...it's on page 75, just a few pages down from where you are at.
Read page 75, and then tell me if it still seems atrange.
