I had a similar problem when using the same notation under IE5. I
discovered that IE5 does not support the { } notation yet. I used the
following workaround:
<xsl:element name="INPUT">
<xsl:attribute name="NAME">FJKAFJVASJD</xsl:attribute>
<xsl:attribute name="TYPE">SUBMIT</xsl:attribute>
<xsl:attribute
name="VALUE"><xsl:eval>substring-after("abcd","b")</xsl:eval></xsl:attribute
>
</xsl:element>
Actually I needed a value-of command, but you get the idea. I don't know if
this is any help or not, but I thought a different approach altogether might
be useful. I'm new to this stuff too, so ignore if this is useless ;-)

and how can i do the same thing by giving to the substring function the
name's attribute of a node???
